  1. What is Select Soccer?
    Select soccer is a great way for players to improve their skills, play with dedicated teammates, and learn from experienced coaches and professional trainers.
     
  2. Can a child play in Eureka Select if he or she doesn’t live in Granite Bay?
    Yes, our soccer league allows players to choose which club to participate in.
     
  3. What makes Select level soccer different than recreational?
    Most players in EYSC play at the recreation level. Select is for those players U-10 and above who are looking for a higher level of play and possess the skills necessary to compete at that level. Players must attend tryouts and be selected to play on a select team. The coach is usually a parent, and has received an F and E coaching license in addition to training with the Positive Coaching Alliance. Many teams also hire a professional soccer trainer to improve foot skills, passing, and game strategy. In addition to the 10 regular season games, many teams participate in some pre and post season tournaments.
     
  4. When are Select try-outs?
    Tryouts for our 2008 Select Season have been completed and teams formed. Tryout dates for the 2009 season will take place in the spring. Check back for dates and locations.
     
  5. How much travel should I expect in Select?
    Many teams choose local tournaments and one or two away tournaments. Each team sets their own tournament schedule, and coaches provide this information before making team selections. The regular season consists of 10 regional league games.
     
  6. How long is the soccer season for Select?
    Regular season play consists of 10 games from September through November. Many teams compete in tournaments during August, regular season breaks, and post season.
     
  7. What is the cost for a player’s season in the Select program?
    Cost varies by team, averaging between $200 to $700, depending on trainer, uniform, and tournaments. The coach will provide an estimate of the season expenses at tryouts.
