1. Determine schedule for
training classes. Discuss
with referee coordinator. We
currently do one in early
August .
2. Reserve facility for
classes. District VI
currently requires that this
is four days that must be MW
6-10 PM two weeks in a row
or TuTh 6-10 PM two weeks in
a row (might flex this for
the Sept. class since it is
the only one offered this
late). It is difficult to
reserve facilities with this
rigid a time schedule!
Should be done as early as
possible!
a. G.B. Library –
they open their
reservation book for the
year in October and fill
quickly. Also, they have
a rule (enforcement
depends on who you talk
to) restricting a group
to two nights a month.
Free
b. G.B. High school -
cost
c. Other G.B. schools -
cost
d. Maidu Library -
expensive
3. Schedule classes with
District VI Director of
Referees. Obtain application
from www.d6soccer.org ,
complete and submit.
4. Update club website to
reflect class schedule.
5. Prepare Referee Flyer
to go out with registration
package.
6. Serve as Contact
Person for class
registration
a. Your name and
contact info will be on
the D6 website and
should be on the club
website and the Referee
Flyer.
b. Handle checks for
class registration. We
require a $25 deposit
check which I shred
provided they complete
the class (ie take the
exam – we don’t require
that they pass it)
7. About one month before
the class send an email
flyer advertising the class
to all referees and coaches
(actually send to Coaching
Coordinators for Rec. and
Select.)
8. Prepare email list of
those in the class.
- Confirm enrollment
and send out class
reminder (phone if no
email address)
- Provide
Assigner/Information
Coordinator with email
list of candidates that
pass class and wish to
referee for EYSC
9. Prepare a class
sign-in list. Prepare
Referee Clinic Information
hand-out (see sample) for
distribution at clinic.
10. Attend classes or
arrange for a substitute.
There must be an adult from
the club present at all
times (see d6 class
application for details).
Arrange for the Club
Treasurer (or write a
personal check and get
reimbursed) to be at final
meeting to pay for
registration.
11. Prepare a Excel list
of referee information for
each successful candidate
that wishes to work for EYSE
and forward to
Assigner/Information
Coordinator
12. Track candidates that
did not complete the class
and help them locate
additional classes
13. Arrange Field Session
for new referees. Need to
discuss this with the
instructor for the class as
they are sometimes involved.
Referee Trainer might also
be involved. Need to arrange
field with club Field
Coordinator.
14. Prepare a Field
Session sign-in list with
complete information for
verification or completion
(see sample). Prepare New
Referee Meeting handout for
distribution at Field
Session (should include
modified rules and a map to
the Assigner’s house.)
a. Forward corrected
referee information to
Assigner/Information
Coordinator.
