EYSC requires each team to send a parent representative to our Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) workshop to become a PCA Parent. This workshop instructs parents on proper sportsmanlike conduct on the sidelines and encourages a cooperative relationship between the Coaching staff and parents. The goal is to have positive parental support on the sidelines WITHOUT parental coaching from the sidelines. It can be difficult to watch your young athlete on the field without hollering instructions; yet EYSC believes the Coach should coach and the parent should support.
The Team PCA Parent brings back new knowledge to the team's sideline to 'spread the word' on remaining positive during games, and NOT coaching from the sideline. This program builds rapport between the parents and creates a foundation of cooperation between the parents and Coaches.
Once our teams are selected each season, each Coach will ask for parent volunteers to attend the workshop to be certified. We typically host several times and locations to accommodate as many schedules as possible. This is a great opportunity for parents to become a positive sideline support!
